JOIN MOIST IN FIGHTING WORLD HUNGER

Attention MOIST fans!

Some of Canada's hottest music stars, including Moist, have joined forces to produce "30 Hour Famine - A Benefit Compilation". This CD on the Nettwerk label is due for release in record stores across Canada starting March 17, 1998.

Artists appearing on the CD include Jann Arden, Sarah McLachlan, Jim Cuddy from Blue Rodeo, Sloan, Treble Charger and Tom Cochrane (complete list of tracks & artists at end of message).

Cochrane, Cuddy and McLachlan are especially passionate about being involved with this project after spending time visiting needy children being helped by monies raised from the 30 Hour Famine event. Cochrane made several trips to Africa over the past eight years to draw attention to emergency situations that needed help from Canadian teens through the 30 Hour Famine.

In a recent interview, Cochrane said " I've had a long and inspiring relationship with World Vision dating back to the late 1980's. Since that time I've watched the 30 Hour Famine grow into a sizeable event involving thousands of kids and young adults across the country. Having witnessed the effect that the monies raised have had on the people in many countries in the developing world, I can say that there is one word that comes to mind over all else...courage...courage of the people in these countries to survive, to fend for themselves and get back on their feet...but courage is only possible with hope." Cochrane continued, "Sometimes it takes giving of ourselves to offer them some hope and the dignity of self-reliance".

The 30 Hour Famine is an annual fundraiser coordinated by World Vision Canada to help fight hunger, sickness and injustices in the world. Teens and others go without food for 30 hours, drinking lots of water and juice. The donations they raise from family, friends and neighbours help fund nutritious food programs overseas as well as in Canada. In addition to emergency work, the World Vision 30 Hour Famine funds work that has long-term impact on communities to help people become self-sufficient and independent from aid.

World Vision Canada is Canada's largest international aid agency working in more than 100 countries, inviting people to share their resources and empower others living in poverty.
